Jeremy Yong – Senior Pastor

Jeremy grew up in Orange County, CA.  God used the witness of his parents, and the Chinese Baptist Church he grew up in, to bring Jeremy to turn from his sins and to trust Jesus Christ for forgiveness.

After a brief stint in Los Angeles, dabbling in the film industry, and studying at Santa Monica College, Jeremy finally landed at Biola University to study film. Though he entered Biola with career aims towards Hollywood, he left Biola desiring nothing other than to make Christ's name known through preaching the gospel.

Jeremy has served on the pastoral staffs of the United Christian Church of Dubai (Dubai, United Arab Emirates), Capitol Hill Baptist Church (Washington DC), and Third Avenue Baptist Church (Louisville, KY).

Jeremy is married to Melanie (Go Cal Bears!), and they have four children: Jeremiah, Elliana, Bethan, and Owen.

Jeremy was awarded a Doctor of Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), and holds a Master of Divinity (SBTS) and a Bachelor of Arts (Biola University). He also serves as Council Associate at The Gospel Coalition. Jeremy served, for a number of years, as adjunct theology professor at Biola University.

Oscar Vasquez – Elder

Oscar was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Having spent most of his life attending church while rejecting the gospel, Oscar was saved at the age of twenty-one, by God's grace. After studying at Santa Monica College for a few years, he transferred to BIOLA University and earned his bachelor degree in Spanish. During that time, the Lord began giving Oscar a burden for sharing the gospel with the lost and has granted him the privilege of taking the good news of Jesus Christ to Mexico, Honduras, China and Peru. He delights in making Christ known by having conversations with random people he comes across. Oscar is currently a Master of Divinity student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and recently worked as a Spiritual Counselor for hospice care in Los Angeles.

Rick Harris – Pastor Emeritus

Rick is a native Californian, born in China Town, Los Angeles.  Despite the “odds” being against him as a foster child in LA, he eventually graduated high school, and went on to earn an A.S. Degree in Data Processing.  He also completed a year at Azusa Pacific University (then known as APC) before joining the Marines.

After an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Rick met Dawn, and was blown away that a woman like her would want to be with a guy like him.  Eventually, they married and with her help, he completed his bachelor degrees in Psychology and Religion from California Baptist University (Riverside, CA).

Rick and Dawn then headed to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (Mill Valley, CA) where they spent the next three years working towards, and completing a Master of Divinity. Together they labored, Rick going to class and studying for the pastorate, and Dawn working long days, as well as nights.  To enrich their experience, God blessed them with their first two children during this time.

After graduation, Rick accepted a call to go to First Baptist Church of Hacienda Heights where he remained for 32 years serving as senior pastor until 2013. Soon, Rick and Dawn had two more children and with the family having grown to six, and the expenses that followed, Rick decided to work another job in order to continue pastoring a church in difficult times.  Throughout the years, Rick has served in various capacities - a substitute teacher, the Orange County Probation Department, and for the last two decades, he has served and continues to serve the Los Angeles Police Department.

Rick has been featured on “LAPD, Life On the Beat” a number of times.  But his greatest claim to fame is not being a sworn police officer, detective, sergeant or chaplain. It is being a Child of God.  At 18, he came to know Jesus, the Lord and Savior.  Since then he has attempted to honor him as The Christ ever since.  In effort to exalt Christ, Rick labors to be faithful in pastoring and preaching, for as long as the Lord would charge him with the responsibility.  Another responsibility that Rick cherishes together with Dawn, is helping their children rear their children to know, love and serve the Lord.

Rick and Dawn are the proud grandparents of seven (so far).  And they are the most beautiful grand-children ever (apart from Jesus the grand-child)!
